5.8Ghz FCC Channels

Thu Feb 05, 2015 10:42 pm

Hi there....I've been scouring the web left and right trying to find out an answer to my question and posting here is potentially my last resort.

I was recently told that the FCC limits the use of channels in the 5.8 ghz band to the previously defined 20mhz wide channel centers of ch149/5745mhz, ch153/5765mhz, ch157/5785mhz, ch161/5805mhz, and (ISM)ch165/5825mhz. (...not taking into account the recent 5150-5250 re-allocation).

So while the radio's being used have the ability to use a 20mhz wide channel on any 5mhz step between 5745mhz and 5825mhz, according to the FCC rules, you can only use the above predefined channels.

It would be against FCC regulation to use a 20mhz wide channel, at 5775mhz? (...for example)

Is this right? I could find no information stating you could NOT use in-between frequencies, but then, I could find no info saying you can!!

Thanks in advance.
