Does the 5.3ghz range suffer from high voltage interference ?

I'm pretty sure that interference can come from faulty transformers. It's very hard to find without a spectrum analyzer. And I'm pretty sure it can spew all over the spectrum. I haven't run into it myself; have only heard war stories. As for just high voltage stuff in general, I am not sure about.
