Please forgive the lengthy explanation. We are an ISP that serves mostly student MDUs. Many of our complexes are now asking for 500Mbps pipes or larger. We monitor everything using Nagios and Cacti. We use 1100s for the front-end router at each complex. These routers seem to be performing properly. We noticed our Cacti graphs for some of the larger apartment complexes were only showing around 240Mbps at most and we are using 64-bit counters. We started testing a new switch for a company and used the traffic-generator (nice tool by the way) to pass tons of traffic through it. This gave us the idea to test these routers for max capabilities ASAP. We need to know that these routers will handle 500Mbps to 1Gbps within reason~
I did much searching here with no luck so far. Has anyone got an idea if it is even possible to use Traffic-Generator through NAT so we can test our standard 1100 config for MDUs in a lab situation. I have several spare routers I can play with. Please advise ... I know a moderator must have this ... Thanks all in advance
