Hi,
I've new projet: I'm planning to deploy a Wifi solution in a School (1000 students) with 40 AP.
The request: optimal coverage for tablet and notebook, large bandwidth to access video streamig, Moodle content and VLE.
All AP are connected by cable.
Dual Bande Features is required. Multiple SSID with different protection and Vlan support are required.
The main goal is the be able to roam seemlessly for one ap to the other without reconnecting and also to get the maxium power per AP.
I'm aware that if I'll use cisco, meru or ruckus everything would be perfect but I haven't budget for this material.
Do you have suggestions for approaching to this project?
My best reagards

Indoor, outdoor or both? dimensions? will all 40 AP cables end up in a centralized rack?

Thanks for reply:
Only indoor.
Are 4 buildings about 300 sq meters.
All AP are cabled to 4 different rack. All the rack are connected to the main rack via fiber

300sq meters in total? or each building?
What will be the available bandwidth?
So each building has 10 cables for the APs.
On each building I'd use a POE panel like the 12 port WaveRF, that will power/connect the APs, then to a CRS125-24G-1S-RM with a SFP module for the fiber to the main building rack.
On the main rack a CCR1016-12S-1S+ (12SFP, 1 SFP+) to connect the fibers from the buildings, to act as CAPsMAN controller, hotspot manager, QoS, etc.
Regarding APs if you want to go Dual Band on the same router
a RB922UAGS-5HPacD with a R11e-2HnD setup would make a nice dual band AP.

hi
mikrotik wireless solution it can possible
1. can create multi ssid
2. can seperate profile per ssid
3. can bridge vlan on wireless
4. MT have dual-brand product eg.Groove, Basebox2+wifi-card 5ghz
5. you can roaming wireless with WDS+MESH
Cisco is a big name doesn't mean that they're still the best.
i forgot who is say

This should not be a problem. Caps man it, bring it all back, vlans, etc, no big deal! would be a fun project to work on! Let me know if you need a bit more professional consulting on it!

Thanks for your answer.
What do you mean about Caps man controller? It can be useful for roaming management?
What do you think about Unifi solutions?
Wich are difference between a Ruckus solutions and Mikrotik solutions?
my best regards

caps manager offer centralized management for mikrotik AP like unifi solution using one mikrotik device for management
I think unifi its easier to implement, but mikrotik its much more versatile, tunable and has more trouble-shooting tools to deal with the management of the system.
If you have a budget for mikrotik or unifi you dont have the budget for ruckus.
mikrotik and unifi are the cheaper way to do wlan for a fraction of the price of other brands.
Mikrotik its cheaper than unifi and more versatile but requires more knowledge
