v6.29 will be released this week!
Posted: Tue May 19, 2015 2:04 pm
by uldis
We have plans to release v6.29 during this week.
Please check the latest rc version (v6.29)
http://www.mikrotik.com/download#rc
For those that had confirmed bug reports, please check if the issue is resolved.
What's new in 6.29rc22 (2015-May-19 13:38):
*) fasttrack - correctly close fasttrack connections;
*) firewall - fixed sector writes rising starting since 6.28;
*) tile - fixed fasttrack;
*) snmp - fix rare bug when some OIDs where skipped;
*) ssh - added aes-ctr cipher support;
*) mesh - fixed kernel crash;
*) ipv4 fasttrack fastpath - accelerates connection tracking and nat for marked
connections (more than 5x performance improvement compared to regular slow
path conntrack/nat) - currently limited to TCP/UDP only;
*) added ~fasttrack-connection~ firewall action in filter/mangle tables for marking
connections as fasttrack;
*) added fastpath support for bridge interfaces - packets received and transmitted
on bridge interface can go fastpath (previously only bridge forwarded packets
could go fastpath);
*) packets now can go half-fastpath - if input interface supports fastpath and
packet gets forwarded in fastpath but output interface does not support fastpath
or has interface queue other than only-hw-queue packet gets converted
to slow path only at the dst interface transmit time;
*) trafflow: add natted addrs/ports to ipv4 flow info;
*) queue tree: some queues would stop working after some configuration changes;
*) tilegx: enable autoneg for sfp ports in netinstall;
*) health - fix voltage on some RB4xx;
*) romon - fix 100% CPU usage;
*) romon - moved under tools menu in console;
*) email - store hostname for consistency;
*) vrrp - do not reset interface when no interesting config changes;
*) async - fixed ppp server;
*) sstp - fixed router lockup;
*) queue tree: some queues would stop working after some configuration changes.
*) console - allow '-' characters in unknown command argument names;
*) snmp - fix rare bug when some OIDs where skipped;
*) fixed CRS226 10G ports could lose link (introduced in 6.28);
*) fixed FREAK vulnerability in SSL & TLS;
*) ipsec - allow to specify custom IP address for my_id parameter;

I did some upgrades on RB493AH from 6.12 to 6.29cr13 to test ROMON
With 6.29 it seems that the ethernet ports sometimes go down and up.

Auto-negotiation broken on CCR ethernet - ports only work in 10Mbit/Half mode.

You may need more detail. Each of my CCR's (Nine CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+ and four CCR1016-12G) are all auto-neg and all linked at 1Gbps with no issue.

Is the queue showing the larger amount of traffic? or a limited amount? or none?
Fast Path / Track is deliberately bypassing parts of the processing, the idea is to move the packets wholly inside the kernel to output interface.
Was it working before?

Input traffic on bridge interfaces is still not counted in 6.29rc22 (now even graphs show only output traffic on those interfaces obiovsly).

Re: FastTrack - New feature in 6.29

In current implementation (6.29rc15) FastTracked (and FastPathed) packets will not be accounted in Traffic Flow.
But.. there are possibilities to extend FastPath/FastTrack feature set in the future.
At the moment, please, test basic FastTrack functionality, and report back if you encounter any issues.
___
So from this I'm assuming its still not counted...

Thanks 105547111 for hints, I'm not using fasttrack now ..and fast path on bridges was already there from ages. So something have been changed/updated on fast path implementation so that .. .. bla bla ..

ffernandes, Neilson - If you are using bridge but use-ip-firewall is not enabled, then Queues will not be limiting bridged traffic:
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/Bridge
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Packet_Flow_v6
paoloaga - These were two separate fixes where issues were triggered in different ways
LynxChaus, Petzl - Please write to
support@mikrotik.com. It must be something specific with your configuration/topology. Send supout files and we will inspect them
105547111 - Please als owrite to
support@mikrotik.com. Did it start with upgrade?
bajodel - Where it is not counted? Have you checked your bridge settings?

Absolutlely sure my bridges are ok (they where ok till 6.27 ..probably 6.28 also but not sure)
See
http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php ... 89#p482184 for a screenshot.
I've noticed that when my bridge interfaces graphs become "unidirectional" (only output traffic and no input)

Was the LAN - WAN throughput issue fixed I found about a 40% decrease in speed on a 250MB connection vs 6.15 which always offered the full 250MB. This was all tested with default config.

Waiting for the security fixes.
Just no stuff which worked in 6.27 broken, and no new holes introduced is enough.
No need to hold for too long.
I guess RouterOS needs a Maintenance stream and a Feature stream, like the later versions of IRIX had.

Ok, I guess simple fix and I guess this will be a problem for many newbies who uses auto-config. If I change base IP and range and click "Apply" in Auto-config - almost everything was great except that DHCP server setup DNS name server stayed .88.1 and of course "no internet".

+1 We need a stable release, then just patch up. As we cannot keep up with these patches, and making list of what works with one and what breaks with other. At the end will just have to stop upgrading, and stay with different version for different tasks.

Any improvments or Bug-Fix on Wireless section?
For example:

- Scan to a File: save on the file the results obtained with timed scan instruments like "Scan", "Freq.Usage", "Snooper", "Spectral Scan", "Spectral History"

Talking about new features, I would like to see new settings for netwatch. For example: numbers of pings, delay between them, delayed start.
I guess the first one should not be so hard to add

I've got few unstable links here...

Anyway ..even on final(?) 6.29 on bridge interface (at least on bridge with only 1 ethernet interface) the input traffic counters dosen't work (output counters are ok). Verified on RB2011, CRS125, RB433.
If I disable Fast Path on bridge settings, input counters of bridges start again ..and viceversa.

WOW!!!
Yesterday I set up a RB951G for a client. I put v6.29 on it, set up NAT, fasttrack, a couple of L7 filter rules, overclocked the CPU to 750 MHz (it is rock stable there) and did a few speedtests with a gigabit upstream. Let me tell you, nothing could have prepared me for what I saw! 750+ Mbps up/down! NATted! CPU was at 55 - 65%, which probably means that I hit the actual limit of the line. Without fasttrack, I saw around 200 Mbps with CPU at 95%.
Well done on this front, Mikrotik!

Referring to Ticket # 2015042066000634, the problem persists.
My Radius is configured to allow one connection per customer.
I do not believe that is the Radius, because what happens is as follows:
My Radius only authorizes the connection.
The IPS POOL is in Mikrotik
1. Customer initiates PPPoE dial;
2. Mikrotik queries Radius;
3. Radius authorizes the client;
4. Mikrotik authenticates the client.
THE PROBLEM:
1. Randomly some authenticate clients, but do not sail;
2. Active PPP connections in the address field, appears in the IP that the client received;
3. PPP interface, the same client, the Remote Address field is empty;
4. PPP interface, this same customer is om the only status with D (dinamic) but nowhere with R (Running);
5. In IP Address, the same client is in red, with the status D (Dynamic) and I (Invalid);
6. Interfaces, the same customer is with Status D (Dynamic) and without the R (Running) and also not as a slave of the physical interface;
7. IP Route, is not created proper route (/ 32) to the client.
RESULT: The PPPoE session is established, the client receives IP, but the RouterOS for some reason creates totally bugged connection.
CUSTOMER IS NO CONNECTION.
After some time, the RouterOS "adjusts" the connection, creates the route and the customer browsing normally.
