RB1100x2 Reboots

Tue May 19, 2015 9:16 pm

We recently installed a new RB1100AHx2 and are experiencing reboots every now and then. The log just shows that it was rebooted without proper shutdown. It is on a UPS so I don't think power is an issue. We are running v6.24 firmware. Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on what to do to fix this problem?

Thanks

I have 5 of the 1100ahx2 all running 6.28. I have not had an issue. I would try updating to a never version and see if that solves the issue. I once had a problem where one would reboot for no reason and updated it solving the problem could not remember the version though.

I've had bad memory shipped on both my 1200s and 1100s and caused stuff like intermittent reboots , failure to boot from time to time.

Make sure firmware is latest.Worst case do a netinstall and restore config.

Here is what I have done so far. I updated to 6.28 and made sure the firmware was also updated and both are current. Just for grins I replaced the 12v power supply with one from a working, but with bad ports, RB1100Ahx2. I have noticed that one fan turns on and off a lot and the other fan never turns on. CPU temp is 39 - 42. I have also noticed that the CPU runs higher than the old unit did, sometimes as high as 60%. The old RB1100Ahx2 usually ran around 5 - 10 %. Don't know if this is a sign of something or not. I have a good RAM from the old RB1100 that I can swap in if needed. We retired the old RB due to three bad ports. Everything else worked fine but we needed all the ports to work. Any other ideas to try. Sometimes it runs for 20 to 30 minutes before rebooting, sometimes for hours on end.

I'd netinstall to rule out NAND corruption causing issues.

I would like to thank everyone for the help on this problem. It seems like it was a bad RAM. I changed it out with another known good one and my RB1100 hadn't rebooted since. Does anyone know how to go about obtaining new RAM for the RB1100. I'd like to have one just in case. Thanks for all the support.

Is there anything on the RAM sticks to identify them?

I'm trying to remember offhand but I'm sure my reseller just sold us DDR2 SODIMM's to replace the memory that was in the RouterBoard.
