50 meter RJ45 cat6 cable

Tue Jul 18, 2006 12:21 am

I would be very happy if any body can tell me why Ehternet1 is unstable when I use 50m cat6 cable.

I tried to access MT532 via wireless - it is working from near side my tower. however - I faild to make a point to point bride from 8km distance. I am using Senio CPE, I can see signal strength 75. However, I can not ping my MT box. I fixed TX power 24db - as I am using 400 mW miniPCI card. I had also fixed all basic data rate.

Are you familiar with the standards for installation and wiring?
What is it connected to? at what ethernet settings?
And finally, how do you define "unstable" ?
I tried to access MT532 via wireless - it is working from near side my tower. however - I faild to make a point to point bride from 8km distance. I am using Senio CPE, I can see signal strength 75. I don't see how this has anything to do with ether1....

PTP bridge with senio cpe? is that using wds or is it "mac-nat"?
fixed all rates, uhm, perhaps put it back to default for testing?

I am not using WDS or mac-nat. It is ap-bride and station mode. I am just testing my network. I may make a bridge and station mode in MT boxes.

I am planning to make a 30km bridge in two hops. the first hop I am planning to use 5.8Ghz where the distance is 5 km. I am using 13km link using 2.3Ghz and rest 5.8 Ghz. I am using two repeater site. each of them I am using MT532 and both end I am using MT112. I dropped the plan to use Senao as it is changing the channel frequently.

However, Still I can see too much unstability in my first link. ping time is over 100ms to 500 ms. It was default initially. I wounder how I can get optimum performance. I have seen some response in this forum to fix the data rate and Tx power.

Another problem I am facing is aligning antenas. Does any body tell me the strategies for aligning Antenas using Mikrotik?
