Hi,
My Setup:
2 x RB912UAG-2HPnD + R11e-5HacD Access Points - Running then as CAPs through CAPsMANv2
All devices on ROS 6.29.1 and firmware 3.22
5ghz set to 802.11ac with Ce on 5180 Mhz 20Mhz channels
WPA2-PSK
client test device: mainly iphone5 but any device used causes issues.
This happens on ROS 6.27 and 6.29.1
voltage 24 to 24.3v temp 38 to 41
6.27 was net installed
This happens to both ROS versions that I installed.
Initially intermittent but now be reproduced every time we run speedtest.net or transfer files.
We have disabled the 5Ghz interface and everything appears ok on the 2.4 - tested with speedtest.net and all ok.
We switched R11e-5HacD to just .11n and no extension channel but no luck.
We also have connected 1 x RB912UAG-2HPnD + R11e-5HnD AP which has same CAPsMANv2 same SSIDs etc same ROS and FW. THIS WORKS FINE.
Any suggestions as to what the issue is? 2 x faulty R11e-5HacD or still (possibly?
![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
) flaky ac driver issue in ROS?
Kind Regards
Aidan Venn

R11e-5HacD use too much power on miniPCIe soket for RB912UAG-2HPnD or 912UAG-5HPnD
Use "ac" radio only on new "ac" board...

UPDATE AFTER SITE VISIT
I finally got to site yesterday and the results are in!
I used the "SWAP BITS UNTIL IT WORKS!" apporach
I tried each step below and then ran speedtests. No step lasted more than 4 tests. Speedtest goes through a 100/100 Mbps true fibre link. Nothing in logs until after reboot. Usual kernel failure message.
New higher amp PSU (MikroTik 24V 1.6A IEC Cord Power Supply) - No
Netinstall 6.29.1 with fw 3.22- No
New R11e-5HacD 802.11ac card - No
New Atennas Solwise Omni Antenna 2.4GHz/5GHz DualBand - 5dBi - No
Reset and remove from CAPsMAN - Standalone - No
I changed the board for a RB922UAGS-5HPacD (I didn`t have any spare RB912UAG-2HPnD) with new PSU and previous antennas (RF Elements Omni Antenna for StationBox inSpot - Dual Band) - YESSSS!
All good 20 plus speedtest results = ok and lots of large file transfer plus 50+ connections. Excellent!
Kind Regards
Aidan

I have also problems with RB912 + R11E-ac, i found out that lowering the TX power of the 5-ac card (all-rates-fixed, 10 dB for example) solves my problems (to be confirmed in the next weeks)

If you lower the TX power, simply the kernel failure and reboot happen later after some hours or days,
and integrated wlan stop transmitting until you phisically reboot the machine.

I have exactly same setup and same problem as well on 2 sets. Since this info about not using this card on this RB is not written anywhere, it is Mikrotik fault which should be fixed. Setting output power fixed to 10dB does not fix it in my case.

R11e-5HacD
R11e-5HacD is our new 802.11ac card in miniPCI-express format, perfect for any RouterBOARD with miniPCIe slot, such as RB953, RB912, RB922, RB800 or x86 devices with RouterOS.

Similar problems here. Basebox2 with R11e-5HnD.
5GHz stops working and cpu of mainboard increases to +-20% all the time.
Monitor cpu usage on these devices and you can see when expansion card stops working.
I have opened a ticket with Mikrotik and I've forwarded this thread to them too.
I hope they can reproduce the bug and give us a solution soon.
Please, change the title of this thread because is not an issue of the mpcie card. It seems there are problems with the mpcie bus of the RB912 board series handling ANY 5GHz. mpcie cards.

I'm having the same issue with an AC card, no solution so far?

Ugh. really? This doesn't work?
I just bought this in a pre-bundled solution from a vendor. This isn't supported? someone should really document that as it isn't set anywhere.
Just got the first one running. Bought it from this vendor:

Is this official statement from MT? I have plans for a small network using bunch of RB912UAG-2HPnD + R11E-5HacD ... I've done similar configs in the past but with R11E-HnD and did not find any issues .... I don't need full power from ac card, about 100mW would be enough for me though ...

It is not power issue. 6 of 40 combo devices have failed. Basebox 2 with 5ghz mpci card. It seems is the mpcie bus of basebox2. reutilized mpcie cards with no problems. Waiting for mikrotik answer. I have 6 units for returning to my provider.

I am wondering if this was ever resolved. I have several Basebox2 units with R11e-5HacD and the devices are rebooting whenever clients connect to the 5GHz signal. I have disabled the cards in most of the units, and that has solved the reboot issue. But I need our customers to be able to connect to the 5GHz signal. I have upgraded to the latest version of ROS, and that has not fixed the issue. Any help would be most appreciated!

It seems like a hardware problem. We have replaced the six faulty basebox2 with new ones and no more problems. There are reports of faulty poe injectors/power adaptors causing similar issues. Try changing all these power related stuff first.
Hope it helps.

Mikrotik is there any update on this?
I have the same problem with RB912UAG-2HPnD and R11e-5HnD card.
I have tried to replace four different RB912 and R11e, also the PSU to 24V, 1.6A = without success.
Changing the PoE and direct PSU to power jack = without success.
Upgrade/downgrade RouterOS, lowering the power on both wlan interfaces = without success.
The boards are in the RF Elements InSpot case with MMCX omni antennas directly connected, so no pigtails.
The only way to make the RB912UAG-2HPnD working is to disable R11e-5HnD card.
Otherwise I get the following:
jan/01/2002 05:00:01 system, error, critical System rebooted because of kernel failure
jan/01/2002 05:00:01 system, error, critical router was rebooted without proper shutdown, probably kernel failure
So no stable dual band solution yet.
Or is there a stable MikroTik dual band solution on the market?

This is a stable solution. I have a lot in production (dual band). It seems there are some faulty RB's...

Yes it looks like the hardware problem...
By the way, I've tried four different routerboards, PSU and R11 cards, but still the same problem.
Do you have the exact RB+card configuration in your production?

Basebox2 and same card as you

Still no luck, I have tried eight different RB912UAG-2HPnD and R11e-5HacD cards = NOT WORKING.
For a brief period of time two boards are working, but the the "kernel panic" and reboots returns.
Also, on some boards the eth1 interface start continuously disconnecting and connecting...
Mikrotik, please reply on this issue?

I was directed here after starting a post about this very same issue. I've got the same problem with the same hardware combination.
Has anyone heard any official word from Mikrotik about this?
