Shutdown Mikrotik OS first before switch POE power to off?

I'm running Mikrotik RouterOS 6.29.1 on a ALIX 3D2 board. It is powered by a Netgear POE switch. Everything works really well. I was wondering wen I power down the system remotely by setting the POE to off. Is this the right way? Till now I always logged in first and clicked the shutdown option in the software before switching off the power. What if I don't shutdown Mikrotik OS first and just take away the power does this cause problems?
