Cheap Cable/DSL PPPoE Router

Tue Sep 28, 2004 6:07 pm

Does anyone know of a cheap cable dsl router that works with Mikrotik? We were using Linksys but recently there quality control is horrible. Thought about using the Netgear RP614 but for some reason Netgear routers will not work with Mikrotik PPPoE servers.

We are using Netgear RP614v2 routers with MikroTik PPPoE servers with good success.
One thing I seem to remember though is that you have to disable mschap1 and/or mschap2, otherwise the RP614v2 wouldn't authenticate. But not sure about this, you should test in your lab, as this issue has been seen some time ago...

cmit it right, I've had to disable those items as well to get things to work.

I've been using D-Link with success for quite some time. They seem very reliable. Just make sure you use recent firmware.

and what about ms-chap-v2 capable cable/DSL router? Mikrotik routerboard works perfectly but it's way to expensive for home users.

sorry. i dont know ms-chap v2 capable low-cost routers too, but the draytek vigor 2200 knows at least ms-chap v1 (with mppe) since firmware 2.3.8.
